For teachers

The Collective

Train with The Banyan Tree, run your own classroom, with our curriculum, our brand and our team behind you.

  • No B.Ed. needed
  • About three hours a week
  • One educator per area

Could you run a class like this?

One tree, many branches

A banyan does not spread by seed. It drops roots from its branches, and each one becomes a trunk of its own — until a single tree is a grove.

The Banyan Tree began as one classroom in Santa Cruz. The Collective is how it becomes many.

Is this you?

  • A school or preschool teacher who wants a more interactive, inquiry-led way to teach
  • A mother restarting her career, or building a new one around her family
  • Someone who wants an additional income, on their own hours
  • Someone who cannot — or does not want to — work a 9-to-5
  • A tutor or activity facilitator looking to offer more
  • Someone from outside teaching who genuinely enjoys working with children

You do not need a B.Ed. You need good communication, a basic awareness of the world, a real interest in children, and the willingness to learn our way of teaching.

What you can earn

₹32,000a month in feesTwo batches of eight children, at a ₹2,000 monthly fee — for about three teaching hours a week.

₹40,000a month in feesTwo batches of ten.

These are gross fee figures, not take-home income, and not a guarantee. What you actually earn depends on your batch sizes, your fees, your location and your costs.

It is already working

One orientation group has completed the programme. Within thirty days of finishing, and without any paid marketing:

Your area

We open locations selectively, and keep to one educator per neighbourhood. We do not want two Banyan Tree teachers competing for the same children.

Once an area is taken, we usually do not open it again. If yours is still open, you would have the first-mover advantage in it — and our help building a local presence.

How you join

  1. Orientation. You come and understand the programme, the philosophy and what is expected. We get to know you too.
  2. Application. If it is for you, you fill in the form.
  3. Interview. We are selective, because every educator represents the brand.
  4. Confirmation. The whole process takes about five to six days.

Questions teachers ask

No. We look for communication, curiosity and a genuine interest in children.

Where do I teach?

Most educators start from a space of their own or a small rented room. We will talk through what works in your area.

How much time does it take?

Around three teaching hours a week for two batches, plus preparation.

What if my area is taken?

Tell us anyway. Areas open as we grow.

How long does joining take?

About five to six days: an orientation, an application, an interview, then confirmation.
